Figures In Dance Sculptures
The dance sculpture is easily marked by the appearance of the figures. The figures in dance sculptures mainly depict the body movements and expressions of the dance activity. The static images of gesture posture, as well as form help in interpretation of dancing figures in case of sculptures.

Expressions of `causes` i.e. people may have once experienced emotively in various Khajuarhoexpressive guises and among their means are static images of gesture and posture, as well as in form helps in interpretation of dancing figures in sculpture. The dancers themselves are presented in so generalized type, or idealized way that there is no any chance to decide likeness towards them. In short, they are viewed as ideal images of ideal dancers. And this can be stated in terms of the Rasa-Dhvani theory in the following way -
Sculptured figures will play a role of determinants in all sorts of ways, displaying evocative symbols in their forms, and in their dance-gestures as figures.

In fact, the figures in dancing patterns of sculpture are deprived of actual movement. Among the canonical postures and gestures of the Indian dance, only few of them actually depend upon the original motions of body, head, arms, hands, eyes and eyebrows. And for this factor, the Dhvani qualities of form & the suggested aura of significance must compensate to have complete impression. But most of the repertoire of the Indian dance consists of static positions, which are combined very often and presented in a sequence of image-units. Hip postures, leg-positions, arm-positions & the head positions are found in relatively few numbers to illustrate mode of dancing. However, if they are viewed in combination they can express an immense variety of situations.
